      Certain eyewear meets the military's Vo Ballistic Test-MIL-PRF-31013, the rigorous ballistic impact test. A 0.15 caliber projectile is shot at the lenses at a velocity of 640 - 660 feet per second, leaving only a small dimple on the lens.

      Certain models change from glasses to goggles by removing the temples and replacing them with the provided goggle strap. Certain models have interchangeable lenses, just pop out one color lens and pop in a different color lens. Watch for the RX limitations with the RXable glasses or goggles. When ordering glasses, pay attention to the temple to temple width of the glasses. 125 - 129mm are for small/narrow faces. 130 - 134mm are for medium width faces. 135 - 139mm are for large width faces and 140 - 145mm width is for wide faces. If you choose the right width glasses, they should fit snug.

     Watch for the base curve of the glasses. The base curve is the front curve of any lens. The higher the base curve (8 - 12 base) the more curved the lenses are thus making the frame wrap around closer to the sides of the head. High base curved lenses are between 8 and 12 base.

     Some frames feature Grilamid TR90 construction which offer increased durability and greater flexibility. Grilamid is a nylon compound, which is shock resistant, non - allergenic and lightweight. These frames are flexible and allow the frame to flex to the head and face to provide a more comfortable fit.

     Eyewear models (unless noted otherwise) feature durable, lightweight polycarbonate lenses which provide startling optical clarity and protection against high - mass and high - velocity impact. Polycarbonate lenses are the preferred lenses for most performance eyewear and are ideal for those who ride motorcycles or participate in water sports, winter sports, hunting, etc. Polycarbonate lenses are shatter - resistant and will NOT splinter if hit by fast - moving objects, such as debris or small stones.      Many styles of eyewear come with foam, either open cell or closed cell. Adding foam reduces wind flow, prevents debris from getting into eyes and reduces vibrations.

     OPEN CELL foam tends to be lighter, softer and sweat absorbant than closed cell foam. Open cell foam also has a tendency to provide a better seal or fit because it is softer and conforms to the contours of the face.

     CLOSED CELL foam has lower absorption, while being weather and chemical resistant. It also provides some ventilation to reduce fogging and has a tendency to be more durable than open cell foam.
